Former Inter and current Livorno striker Simone Dell’Agnello attacks Inter on its policy on young players.

“Honestly, I have seen too many mistakes made by Inter with young players. You think of Balotelli but I also think about Destro as well as Siligardi who at the nd of last season belonged to Inter and now Livorno have all his card. This policy is a bit strange and I think that Inter, just like all Italian teams, must develop its young Italian players because it is better to focus on our own academies than going abroad.

“Without taking anything away from any one, the club must have had a revolution after the treble which did not happen. One of the players that had to stay was Balotelli but he left the club. Now the situation is difficult.”

We have no faith in out young player. Plain and Simple. We make terrible mistakes during transfers by including our best young stars just to cut the price down a bit. If I were a player in our youth system I’d be worried about my future with Inter.

It was never the italian culture to bet on their youth. Well, at least not recently and that was never a problem anyway, because italy, and europe as a whole, used to be wealthy and had the money to make big investiments abroad. The culture was that the players were only ready to serie A when they reached 26 years old, so before that the players would Struggle on the inferior divisions to get experience and most of them were already released from the big clubs. If he succed the big club had the option to buy him back. It worked because the money was there already, the teams would only choose when to invested it. Now is different because the economical crysis hit the world hard, specially Europe. Now the italian clubs must change their concept on youth players and try to take the best out of them as soon as possible, that alone would save bilions dollars. And I’m not saying that it will never happen…it will, but it will take time, because nobody changes their own beliefs over night. We’ll get there. I’m just saying it wasn’t just Inter that neverr apreciated their own youngster, Nobody on Serie A did.
