It was a positive debut for Mateo Kovacic despite a horrendous collapse by his team against Siena. The new number 10 of Inter demonstrated personality and flashes of a real talent in the midfield.
“It is normal that the first two-three days to feel a little pressure but when I met my new teammates and when I played with them on the field, the pressure went away. It is a phenomenal feeling to be here at Inter,” said Kovacic to Croatian press.
“What did Stramaccioni say to me before entering the field? He explained the formation and in what position that I should move. I am still early, perhaps at a trial stage but soon, I think I will be able to give more.”
On the choice of wearing the number 10 shirt. “It is a number that I have always wanted to have. They offered it to me and I accepted with pleasure. The first year at a new club is always difficult but I hope to settle in as quickly as possible so I can play my best for this team.”
On last minute move to Inter last transfer window. “When the offer from Inter arrived, I was a little bit hesitant at first but I knew that Diamo needed the money also because of the crisis that they are in. On one hand I was happy but on the other, you know it is always hard for a young player to leave his city, his club.”
