We will probably hear a lot about what Wesley Sneijder has to say as he is getting settled in his new adventure in Turkey with Galatasaray. The Dutch, in an interview, reveals that the reason why he did not go to another big European club.

“Why did I not go to one of the best European clubs? Because at this moment, I am not one of the top five players in Europe. Inter are also no longer one of the best five clubs in Europe. We were in 2010 when we won the Champions League. That is why I see going to Galatasaray as a step forward in my career. Here I will play regularly and this is also very important as the 2014 World Cup approaches. Choosing Galatasaray for economic reasons? If it is about money, I would stay at Inter. I had another two and a half years in my contract and I could just easily sit on the couch. I have been training very hard to keep myself in shape. And do not forget the day after my transfer to Inter, I played 70 minutes and we won 4-0 against Milan.”

What he says is fair enough right now Inter are definately not 1 of the top 5 clubs in Europe. But he went to Turkey because they were the only club willing to pay him close to what he was making at Inter.

    Challenge accepted.

Because we paid you far too much money whilst you sat on the bench injured! Wherever you rate us in your top club standings we gave you the opportunity to win so much unlike Real and Ajax! A little bit of thanks to the fans and for what Inter did for you might have been nicer Wesley but each to his own! A Zanetti you will never be!

    Quite fair :-0

Inter are also no longer one of the best five clubs in Europe

    That’s true for sure.

    Sneijder is a great man.

Well, those that would disagree with Wes are living in a lie, because Inter are far from the top 5 clubs in Europe right now… We are not even in top 10 to be honest.

  • Rafael Vieri

He might be right about that top 5 thing. We could be, if he played more. He didn’t. Thanks for everything, Sneijder. Although, I gotta say, the momment you choose money over a career plan, you’re pretty much done for. This is the end of Sneijder as a Player, now he’ll be a money machine and I wouldn’t be surprise if his next stop was on MLS.

What we do over the next 9 days will show us if we are in the top 10 or not. If we can’t make the moves to get us back in the Champion’s League, we’re not in the top 25. We can’t miss the CL two years in a row.

    Yeah… But how about galatasaray…??

    • AW

Galatasaray is in the CL knockout round. The turkish club won his own championship.

What you said is true sneijder. However you didnt want to be in a top 5 club bc you could of stayed at Inter and together make it a top five club again. You chose money over football and that is a fact as well.
