Strama: “Deki Still In My Plan”

Andrea Stramaccioni will not abandon Dejan Stankovic. The Serb is still the focus of the project, as explained by Stramaccioni to the Corriere della Sera: “When I did the interview with Moratti to become coach I told the president that my midfield would be based on Dejan. He should heal well and does not rush to return. Yes he still in my plan.”

    He was going to use Deki as the regista, since still, he is our only player that has the world class passing range and vision (other than Sneijder) necessary to play that role. He’s too slow in my opinion though, he doesn’t help in defense much and can’t really make runs into the box anymore, I really do hope he finds a new team soon since a) he’s still good, just not our level and b) we need the space (and $) for Paulinho, Obi, and he youngsters to come through.

      He’s at Spezia on loan, and is definitely not ready for Serie A yet, in a year maybe, and then maybe another year after that, ready for us. You have to realize, in Italy, the central midfield positions, be it defensive mid, or regista, or any sort of highly tactical position, is rarely afforded to very young players, if they are, they’re rare players like Verrati. Destroyers can be young, because they are used for their running and hustle off the ball, but the ball players and markers are usually meant to be more experienced players in Italy :p

        the rumors are parma want him in january and if u saw him last year he was one of the best players in our primerva squad, only bessa technically better apart from him cresitig was brilliant so if he comes to parma in january he will get good game time and well be ready for us in time

          Oh yeah, I’m not denying he’s a great talent. He’s massive, but definitely not for right now, who knows, if he matures quickly enough, he could make our 1st team next season, if not another season loan at a mid-table team, aka stay at Parma for a year if thats whats closest to happening. Stankovic and Mariga would need to go first, if we choose not to keep Mariga after his return.

        Agreed. He’s also not getting any time at Spezia. The coach likes to play with 2 defensive mids, so he’s been getting the odd minutes as an AM.

          pointless sending him there then? :/ goodness.
          if we loan out our primavera players, we should put clauses in stating a certain number of minutes that they have to play each month (when fit.) These guys are our future, and with FFP, we have to make sure they develop and gain experience to feed the 1st team!

    Stankovic has done so much for the club but both parties need to come to an agreement about how to ease him out of the squad by the end of season. For his wages we can get Fernando at the end of season.
