It was a good Inter debut for Alvaro Pereira against Roma at the San Siro last week despite the result. The Uruguayan did make a nice impression for his continuous running, quality and sacrifices.

“He represented himself with this feet, determination, resourcefulness, heart, hunger and crosses,” said the Gazzetta dello Sport. However, according to the Milan based newspaper, the former Porto player will probably return playing as a left-back this Sunday against Torino.

To be honest, I think some of crosses and decision making in the final third from him were a bit questionable. But he’s come from Porto who play with a different attacking style so I guess we’ll have to give him some time. He seemed like he’d be solid defensively though, some nice tackles here and there

Agree that his crosses in particular weren’t perfect for that one game, but I think that was just him having a bad day. Really impressive player overall, I think. It’s rare to find fullbacks with his combination of size, speed, and skill.

He kept crossing the ball from left to far post on the right flank were we were a player short numerically so I still think 4-3-2-1 is a crap formation lol

4-2-3-1 has always been my preferred formation, but we don’t seem to have the players for it. We clearly are built to play 4-3-2-1 at the moment. If we get a really good winger in January then we could conceivably play 4-2-3-1 methinks. Even then though, we’d have a lot of DMs sitting on the bench in that scenario.

Yeah. A true right sided winger would be great… Nobody comes to mind though unfortunately…
