The Plan B After Maicon: Javier Zanetti And Alvaro Pereira

The farewell of Maicon is certainly a major loss at Inter. Yes, he is 31 years old and is no longer the same player he was 2-3 years ago still, the Brazilian is still very good at what he does (well at least offensively anyway). However, Inter already have plan B in mind for this departure. The preferred right back should be Zanetti with Jonathan as his backup. And on the left, we would have Alvaro Pereira with Yuto Nagatomo as the first alternative coming off the bench who is also suitable to play as a right back. Let’s not forget Mbaye as well, he impressed many Inter fans during pre-season friendly matches. Options are there and ready to make Maicon forgettable.

        to be a flying wing back that can defend, you don’t have to be in the same position, what I’m saying is, with Maicon, flying winger on the right, Zanetti/more defensive on left, now, more defensive on right, and attacker on the left. I know he’s a left back haha

    i do not agree Maicon leaving being a “major loss”, Maicon ’10 yes, but the last 2 years Maicon was a disgrace. Our entire D-Line were bad but Maicon was the weak point.

      Zanetti without a doubt should be starting ahead of Jonathan. I have no idea what you’ve seen in Jonathan to think otherwise.

        Zanetti is the first choice, but I think Jonathan has potential to be a very good player.

            Maybe I’m hoping too much! ;) I’ve seen him playing few good games with Parma and he also played good practice match in training season.

    Well what we lose in attack from his departure will be conpensated by that attacking signing we made and the LB will now be our more attacking fullback position.
    In the defensive aspect, Zanetti is much better than Maicon defensively. Which is specially important when our CB paiting is unproven.

    We have great players for LB and RB but Maicon can never be forgotten. He was the best at his position!
