Well let’s start off with the first half. We were absolutely horrible. Inter were all over the place and paled in comparison to the Inter that played against Pescara even without Sneijder and Guarin. Our defense was sporadic while Samuel was AGAIN very poor. He made mistakes everywhere and it looks as if The Wall is either rusty or needs to work on his defensive plays. Especially, he was who played the opposition’s striker on which earned them a penalty. The only bright spot in defense was young Juan Jesus who dealt well with attacks down his side. Our midfield is also very poor. Nagatomo should not play in midfield, even as a winger while Cambiasso seemed tired to say the least. However, our attack as usual is one of the only small bright spots. Cassano (for the short period of time he was on), linked well with Coutinho and Palacio.
The second half, well that was slightly different. In the attacking department, we came alive even more especially after the crucial introduction of Guarin. A great counter attack lead to an inch perfect through ball from Coutinho to Palacio who finished nicely with his left. Three minutes later, we were behind again. A howler from youngster Belec who failed to clear a corner resulted in an easy second goal for the visitors. However, then Guaro did what he had been meaning to do since he arrived at Inter: score a goal! And WHAT A GOAL! Winning it back and bulldozing through the Vaslui defense and strike a vicious shot past the keeper.
Below are the player ratings:
Castellazzi 5.0: Had nothing to do until taking down the Vaslui player and getting sent off.
Jonathan 6.5 Got forward well in the first half but lacked defensive cohesion, although in the second half, he did a very good job defensively as well.
Silvestre 6.0: An improved showing from the last match…but not by much.
Samuel 4.5: He was in shambles throughout the game and had poor positioning and marking.
Juan Jesus 7.0: Easily our best defender. Looked tidy at left back and when moved to centre back, looked even better.
Zanetti 8.5: O captain my captain! Inter’s savior and grace! Did marvelously in both defense and especially in attack where he ran rings around the Vaslui defense.
Cambiasso 6.0: A decent performance from El Cuchu again, tidy.
Nagatomo 6.0: Looked very out of position at the left side of midfield and looked better when he got pushed back into his natural left back role.
Palacio 7.0: Classy performance from our “vice-Milito” and ran his socks off up front while also notching a nice goal.
Cassano 6.5: For the short period he was on, he looked good in position.
Coutinho 8.0: Our best forward as he looked very sharp in attack and was a thorn in the oppositions attack the whole time and got a nice assist.
Substitutes:
Belec 4.0: A torrid performance from the youngster who looked completely out of his league with his corner error and shaky taking of the ball.
Guarin 8.0: Also a Man of the Match candidate as he came on and made an instant difference winning many balls back and capping his match with a great goal.
Ranocchia 6.0: Came on and really added some much needed solidity to the Inter backline.
