A true legend, a true record man for the Nerazzurri: for appearances, for efficiency and for his devotion to this shirt. Javier Zanetti is one of the few players that is a model to follow both on and off the field, has a freshness of a young kid at 39 years old with no desire to quit. In an exclusive interview with FC Inter News, Zanetti discusses this new Inter team, training camp and his future at the club.
How is Pinzolo compared to last season?
“We have a lot of enthusiasm by all, the players and the fans, who support us in so many ways and make us feel a special warmth. On our part, there is a great desire to redeem last season. We hope that our work that we are putting in will bear fruit.”
How is working with Stramaccioni in these early days of the season?
“We’re working well. We try to speed up preparation because we have so many commitments and we will be starting our season very soon. We will try to be ready and in form at the very beginning.”
Many important players have left the club and some others can still leave, how are the veteran players living through this situation?
“They are the player who gave much to the club and will always be part of the family of Inter. However, the club has made its choices and we must respect them. We can only thank them for what they did for Inter and will remain forever in our history.”
How do you see this new Inter taking shape?
“I see many talented and determined young players, with more experience they will improve and understand what it means to wear the shirt of Inter. We hope that everyone can contribute to the cause.”
Cordoba has opened the road to management, is a desk ready for you yet?
“I would like to continue working for this club after I quit playing on the field. When the time comes, I will speak with management and will seek the best solution.”
But are you sure that this will be your last season as a player?
“I think there is a misunderstanding because in that interview, I said that I could stop because I am in my last year of the contract but that does not mean that I will retire. In a season, anything can happen. I will see how I feel then I’ll talk to my family, the club and my teammates and then decide. Now I feel good and if I had my way, I would continue for many years to come…”
