In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Mauro Zarate talks about his experience at Inter.
Good morning Mauro, how are you?
“Good. I am on vacation in Buenos Aires. It is not cold here. I am just enjoying my family, Natalie and Mia, my children. I am getting married in a few days.”
The option to pick you up by Inter has expired on May 31. Moratti decided not to exercise this option.
“My situation is clear. I am the property of Lazio. If an interested team comes then we will talk. If Lotito intends to keep me that is fine too. I will return to Lazio and do my best.”
But does Zarate prefer a return to Rome or find another team?
“There are no preferences. We must also see what is the thought process of Lotito so now it is hard to say. I’m not thinking of anything at the moment because I want to have a nice vacation with my family.”
At Inter you did not do too well. Could be the right situation for Zarate at first but that was not the case.
“It all went wrong. It was not a good season and not just for me. Except for Diego Milito who scored a ton of goals, almost all of us were below par, below what we are capable of. Three different coaches, a strange season, but it is over and you have to start again. Now I want to go play and have fun.”
Why did you leave Lazio last summer?
“You know. I left because of Reja. I was not in agreement with the coach. The best option for everyone was that transfer to Inter.”
